While tales of extraordinary adventures consistently give us an urge to break the mold and seek out excitement, most of us realize that in real life, stability and security are the way to go, at least for a majority of people. We strive to achieve that perfect balance in life, one where we feel safe and fulfilled... and most of us do, but there always comes a day when some outside force tries to knock it all down. Moments like those are defining for many of us, as they certainly are for Nick Grant in Eric Rill's The Window Washer .

Though at first most people have very concrete goals and ideas as to what they want to accomplish before their time on this Earth is up, as we get older most of us shift our focus towards just trying to be happy and keeping it all together. Some have the misfortune of being left to scramble and make up for many lost years in their final stretch of life, as is Saul in Eric Rill's An Absent Mind .

The thriller genre has recently seen a brilliant addition to its already grandiose list of promising authors (promising in terms of what their future will bring, of course) when Eric Rill published his first novel, Pinnacle of Deceit . The main premise of the story is rather simple: there are four men who grew up in an Arizona orphanage, and many years later, they now find themselves as targets of a mysterious and terrifying killer, the unstoppable doom seemingly destined to turn their lives into a living hell.
