"The Lightning Thief" by Rick Riordan
Percy Jackson is not at all like his peers, in the sense that he can actually see mythical creatures and what’s more, he often clashes with them. Unfortunately, he is the only one who can see them and this results in him being expelled from his school. However, this all turns out to be for the best as right after he is taken to Camp Half-Blood where he learns the truth as to who he really is: a demigod.
What’s more he is the son of Poseidon, ruler of the sea, which pretty much makes Percy one of the most powerful demigods to ever exist. Unfortunately for Percy, from that point on it’s far from being all fun and games as the Oracle gives Percy some kind of cryptic prophecy, sending him on a quest to the Underworld where he must prevent the Gods from going at war with each other.
