"Full Dark, No Stars" by Stephen King
While Stephen King has become known as one of the greatest writers in the world because of his novels, he does have some interesting works which unfortunately haven’t received as much exposure as they should have.
These works often include collections and compilations of smaller stories, such as Full Dark, No Stars for example which tells four different stories and in true King fashion, the predominant themes throughout the stories are greed, vengeance and deception.
Finally, there is the afterword where King finally gives the answer to the question many of his fans have been asking for many years: where does he get his ideas?
All things considered, Full Dark, No Stars is a bit of a diamond in the rough and makes for a very entertaining read.
These works often include collections and compilations of smaller stories, such as Full Dark, No Stars for example which tells four different stories and in true King fashion, the predominant themes throughout the stories are greed, vengeance and deception.
- The first story titled "1922" is about a farmer who confesses all of the evil deeds in his life which led him to the absolute worst year in his life, you guessed it, 1922.
- The second story in the book titled Big Driver is a common tale of rape and vengeance, and what it lacks in plot it certainly makes up for in style, pacing, and general flow of the story itself.
- The third story is the shortest one of the entire collection and it is titled "Fair Extension". In a nutshell, this story is all about depicting pure hatred, spite, and remorselessness.
- The fourth and final story of Full Dark, No Stars bears the title "A Good Marriage" and it explores the question as to what would a person do if they discovered that their life-long romantic partner had some dark and terrible secret.
Finally, there is the afterword where King finally gives the answer to the question many of his fans have been asking for many years: where does he get his ideas?
All things considered, Full Dark, No Stars is a bit of a diamond in the rough and makes for a very entertaining read.
